Cookies and Cream!

Ca-Razy

Two weekends ago was the Handmade Harvest Festival and it was one exhausting weekend. Thank goodness for my amazing sister or I wouldn't have made it! All in all I made over 80 cupcakes, 100 cake pops, 72 cookies, a smash cake, and a bridal shower cake!! I would have posted something sooner, but I needed time away from cakes for awhile haha!

I'm not sure if doing the festival was a success or not. I did make some money, but when you take out ingredients and time I'm just not sure. What will make it completely worth it is if I get some calls from some people who stopped by our booth! So far I haven't gotten any, but there is still hope! People always need cakes, right?

The only other things I have coming up are some birthday party cakes for some of my little cousins, and the wedding in November, which I am sooo excited about! I'm very happy to be a part of someone's special day!!

On a very happy note, if everything goes as planned I will be going back to Tech in the spring! I had always hoped to make Cake decorating a career, but my second love is Sociology! I will be finishing my bachelors degree! This is something I have been wanting to do for awhile. I still plan on making cakes on the weekends!! Don't worry, I can multi task!! Have a wonderful night everyone!!

*Pictures from the Festival, Birthday Party, and Bridal Shower will follow.

6 Month Photos

I just want to take a minute to brag on a friend and to brag on my son ( who happens to be one of the cutest kids in the world!!) We decided to have his pictures on a day when it was cloudy, raining, and with a fussy baby! The odds were against us haha! But luckily we had chosen to use the amazing Pam Monaghan! She was able to get some absolutely amazing pictures of our family and I am extremely grateful! Please take a minute to look at the pictures and check out her blog!

Here's a preview!

Exciting Things To Come

I have some exciting news! My amazing friend Pam is allowing me to sell my baked goods at her booth in the Handmade Harvest Vintage Farm Fair! Long title I know haha! This is going to be an amazing opportunity to get my name out there and to show others what I can do! I'm keeping it pretty simple by only doing cupcakes, cake pops, and sugar cookies! Each item will be a dollar! I'm also going to make a mini scrap book of all the other cakes I've done with prices to set on the table! The Harvest is on September 29th! I'm going to be extremely busy that weekend because I have two more orders due! But what's a little stress if I have an opportunity like this! Thankfully my sister is going to come up and help so that will take some of the stress off!! And plus we always have so much fun when we work together! So if you're not busy that Saturday I would greatly appreciate some support!! Plus, Pam will be selling aprons, vests, hair bows, and other amazing items! She is extremely talented and very creative!
Here is a tentative list of the items I'm going to sell

  • Chocolate Cupcakes with Espresso Buttercream
  • Chocolate Cupcakes with Cookies and Cream Buttercream
  • Vanilla Cupcakes with Buttercream
  • Sugar Cookies with decorative Buttercream
  • Cake pops (still unsure what kind)

Here is the flyer! Come see us!!

Not So Busy, Yet Busy :)

Well this past month has been extremely slow for cake decorating, but extremely busy in the life department! My crazy, amazing 6 month old is crawling everywhere, pulling up onto everything, and will not stay out of the dog food!! He keeps my super busy! I make his own so I feel like all I have time to bake these days are sweet potatoes! I'm itching to bake something amazing. The only down side to that is my husband is going out of town for a week, therefore I will be left alone in a house with baked goods! Never a good idea! Saturday is my family reunion so my plan is to bake something Friday night, that way I'm not tempted to eat the whole thing haha!!

On the bright side of baking, I did receive two orders this week! One is for a bridal shower. This one will be pretty simple. It's a twist on the rose cake I normally due. Instead of one rose on the side I will be doing three rows of roses. Each row becoming a darker shade of purple towards the bottom! I've actually been wanting to attempt one of these for awhile, so I'm excited for the chance! The second order is for a little girls first birthday party! I will be doing cupcakes and a smash cake! Details are still up in the air! Both orders are due at the end of September, one day apart! I will be a busy lady! The fun part about the Birthday order is it's actually a trade! The customer actually has a business of her own and we will be trading my baking for her crocheting! She is very talented and I'm excited to get Westyn a couple more hats made! If you go to www.facebook.com/ThreeLittleBearsCrochet you can check her out and maybe place an order!! It is almost Fall!!!!

Our house is coming along amazingly! I can't believe we will be moving into it in less than two months! My wonderful husband is setting me up a craft area in the garage, which I'm extremely excited about! I will finally have some space to work on the tons of ideas I have decorating our new home!!

I almost forgot! The amazing Pam Monaghan designed me some business cards! But of course I had to screw them up! She sent me two different proofs to look over and I still managed to get my phone number wrong! But luckily I can change the last number to the correct one without it looking extremely ghetto :)

I hope everyone is having a great day!
Thank you for reading!!

Wedding Cake

This was a small two tier wedding cake I made for a lady I never even got to meet! I hope she enjoyed it!

Crazy Busy

Hey everyone! I know I have been MIA for a while! All my readers must be so disappointed haha! Just kidding! My life has been CA-RAZY lately! My best friend had her first child while my husband was out of town. So taking care of my five month old alone and trying to go visit my friend in the hospital, get her a welcome home gift, on top of that being my first week back at work was very interesting!! Lets just say it was a stressful week last week!

My baby got his first cold this week! If you've never seen a child sick, then you are very lucky! It is the most helpless I have ever felt! I took him to the doctor on thursday but with him being so young they won't give him anything. We just have to wait it out and let it run its course! So I have not had much time to blog over the past couple of weeks!

I made my first wedding cake a couple of weekends ago! I was pretty happy with the way it turned out! It was only a small two tier cake. Living in a two bedroom apartment, I don't have a lot of room to work on or store cakes so a two tier is about this biggest I think I could do. I was barely able to keep that one cool enough so I could work on it! I would have to say that delivery is the most stressful part of this whole cake business! On one hand, what if I drop the cake walking down the steps!! How terrible would that be! On the other hand what if I deliver the cake safe and sound and the client hates it! Those are just some of the things that run through my head while the cake is in rout! Hopefully, the more cakes I do the easier it will get! My worst fear is messing up someone's cake on an occasion as special as their wedding day! Can you say humiliating or career ending?!

Those are just a few thoughts for tonight! My baby is sleeping and my husband is out buying us a refrigerator for our new house (coming in October!!!!). So for the first time in a while I'm getting some nice relaxing Me time!! Goodnight :)

Cake Stand

I've been seeing so many homemade cake stands on Pinterest, so I decided to make one myself! I just bought a plain white plate from Walmart. I bought the one with ridges on the side because I thought it looked classy! The bottom is made from a .97 cent glass vase, also from Walmart! The most expensive thing was the spray paint. I went ahead and bought the good kind because I wanted to make sure it worked good! Next time I may try a cheaper brand! I hot glued the two together and wallah!! I have a cake stand! All in all I'm pleased!! I'll be using it this weekend for a birthday party so I'll have pictures up by Monday!

Circus Cake

Circus Cake

The Circus Cake went better than I thought it was going to! If I hadn't have had my husband helping me it would have been a lot more difficult! I finally worked with fondant and it was easier to work with than I was expecting! I'm ready to cover a whole cake in it!! I will post pictures soon of the cake!

Thankful

Thankful for my amazing friends! They have been spreading word about me and I now have a small wedding cake I'm making for next weekend!! As always pictures to come!

Super excited to get started on this circus cake! Yesterday I attempted to dye some Fondant and now I have red hands and pink Fondant?! Not sure how that happened! It looks a little better today!! Hopefully I can get it to look red by tomorrow!! I can't wait to post pictures! This will be my first Themed cake!!

Cupcakes

Cupcakes

These are the Mocha Cupcakes with Espresso Buttercream Icing! I made tiny chocolate mugs to go on top!!

I was really happy with the flavor of the icing, but I wasn't as happy with the cupcake. I believe next time I make them I will just make chocolate cupcakes!! This was the first time I've attempted making decorations out of chocolate!

*I got the recipes from Pinterest!

Coming Soon

It's been a while since I've posted anything. My husband has been out of town so I've been really busy having Westyn by myself! I'm hoping to get back into the groove of things soon. I have two things in mind that I want to make. First, is a Mocha Cupcake with Espresso Buttercream icing! Yum!!! I hope it turns out good! I have an idea to make it my own and give it a little pop! Second, is a Naked Cake! I'm still trying to figure out what icing to use on this one to hold up all the cake! I will post pictures of these as I make them! Stay tuned!

Cake Pops

How can something so small cause so much stress?! I hope they enjoyed them though. Still have heard back!

Mothers Day Cake

Busy but Productive

I had an extremely busy weekend. I had an order for a Baby Shower cake and an order of 40 Cake Pops for a birthday party. The cake was a simple rose cake that I've made before, but the cake pops were treacherous! Very time consuming or something that seems so simple. It was my first time ever making them and by the end I had sworn off Cake Pops forever!! Haha!

My dad came up to visit today and asked me to make a belated Mothers day cake for my Granny:) my niece helped so it was pretty fun! We baked while the guys watched the baby! Now Joe and I are about to grill out with some wonderful friends! All in all I would call this a very successful weekend.

Life Changing Events

This handsom fella has completely turned my world upside down and I love every minute of it! He has given me passion and purpose. No matter how much he cries this smile will always remind me of how lucky I am to have been given the chance to raise him and hopfully one or two more in the distant future!
This was my poor attempt at a guitar cake for my cousins 18th birthday party! He loved it but it was such a mess!!Luckily he didn't know what I had envisioned this looking like!
I made this cake for my sisters house warming shower! Still in the learning process and getting use to piping!
This is a sample cake I made for my best friends baby shower! Pictures of the actual cake at the shower will be up soon! It's a rose cake!

Coming Soon!

Pictures of the cakes I've recently made will be posted soon!
